The last image to be veiled.The Mother of God of Perpetual Succour remained unveiled
for Her Novena of Prayers this evening.
After Night Prayers the veil came down
and with all the other sacred images
She will remain enpurpled
and, as it were, mourning
until Resurrection night,
now fourteen days away.
Lent has ended.
Tonight we enter
Passiontide.
Vale o valde decora,
Et pro nobis Christum exora.
Farewell, O most comely!
Prevail upon Christ to pity us.
