WELCOME BACK
Hard to believe summer is here. Well, not officially, but unofficially I guess it started with Memorial Day. Where we live there are a lot of people who come here for the winter months and leave in the summer to go somewhere cooler. This is a great place in the winter. I'm still thinking about all the recent devastation from the tornadoes. Even as I write this, there are severe weather warnings

Come to Reign over us!
Today is the Feast of the Queenship of Our Blessed Lady
- before that it was the Feast of Our Lady Mediatrix of All Graces -
and the Processional Copy of Our Lady of Christchurch
was enthroned before the holy altar in
St Teresa's Church, Riccarton, Christchurch
during the traditional sung Holy Mass.
Afterwards roses
(which one can see arranged before Our Lady)
were blessed and distributed in honour of
Our Blessed Lady's Queenship
of this City and the Universe.
Providentially a faithful soul
had also brought a single snapdragon flower to Mass
- it is winter in Christchurch
and the flowers are not common now -
recalling that the medieval name for this flower was
"Our Lady's Slipper".
Most appropriately for today
she showed us how they as children
had been taught to open the flower
and behold inside "Our Lady's Sceptre".
May her sweet reign never cease!

Maryfest and Grand Procession in Honour of Our Lady of Christchurch
Our Lady's Sediarii
- taking their place at the front of the bier
carrying our replica of the statue of
Our Lady of Christchurch.
This Sunday our confreres in Christchurch, New Zealand,
participated in the annual Procession,
Consecration of the City and Diocese to the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
and Pontifical Benediction
which they had been asked to organise by the local ordinary,
His Lordship the Most Reverend Barry Jones, D.D.,
Bishop of Christchurch.
For the last few weeks we have been planning and advertising
this wonderful event throughout the Diocese,
primarily using this poster -
translated for other local communities into
Polish, Korean, Tagalog, Arabic and Greek.
Thanks be to God and Our Lady,
St Mary's pro-Cathedral was filled to capacity
as Bishop Jones, accompanied by
Bishop Emeritus Basil Meeking
with the Administrator of the pro-Cathedral, Fr Friel,
as well as more than a dozen priests
led around 500 faithful from the Diocese
in an Act of Homage
to our
Heavenly Queen.
Many of the faithful had made banners in the last weeks
and these were evident in the lateral isle on the Gospel side.
Representatives of the Legion of Mary,
the Catholic Women's League,
the Knights of the Southern Cross,
as well the Keralite, Filipino, Korean,
Polish, Vietnamese,
Maori, Coptic, Ethiopian and Samoan communities,
members of the Marist, the Marist Brothers,
the Community of St John
the Marist Sisters
the Sisters of Nazareth and of the Beatitudes
many schools and parishes
joined in with the Bishop
the Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer
and of course our own traditional Catholics who had come from
all over South Island to be there.
The City of Christchurch Highland Pipe Band accompanied us
as we processed around the pro-Cathedral
and along Manchester Street.
The beautiful replica of Our Lady of Christchurch
which we carried in the procession.
The Queen of this City
crushes the old serpent
and extends her benign reign
over New Zealand!
At the end of the procession as the trumpet rang out
Our Lady of Christchurch
was crowned before His Lordship the Bishop
by little Esther
who had received Our Lord for the
first time that morning
in Our Mother of Perpetual Succour Oratory.
What a great grace to be able to see
the City and Diocese Consecrated again to
the Immaculate Heart of Mary!
Our very great thanks to all those who helped
in many and varied ways
to make the day most memorable
no less for its bright sunshine on a day
predicted to be overcast and awaiting snow!

Week #260 with Wings & Willows!
Good Morning Sketchers, this week are joined by Rebecca from
"Hello! My name is Rebecca Parker. You may have visited my shop, Wings& Willows before, but in case you haven't, here are some things you might not know about me:
- I have never taken any formal art lessons. (Unless you consider doodling in the margins of my college notes "lessons") I actually went to school to be an elementary school teacher, which I also loved doing! Right now, I am a stay at home mommy to three lovely little girls.
-I have been creating digis for about one year now (and LOVE doing it! ) It has been such a great opportunity to meet some fabulous crafters. You girls really know how to make a stamp look good!
- My favorite thing to draw is animals (of course) Our little home includes lots of them: A cow, a golden retriever, chickens, goats and some spoiled kitties. You can always find some inspiration i the backyard.
-In addition to making digital stamps, I also paint Fingerprint Trees. If you haven't heard of them before, think of them as a unique alternative to a guest book at a wedding or event. I have a blast painting them (and making them is my mental wellness at the end of a busy day!)
You can find the links to my shops and blog below. I am always so honoured to have new guests stop by (and comment) It truly makes my day!
Becca xo"
The Prize from Rebecca this week is a wonderful $10.00 to spend in the
Wings & Willows store.

DT CALL
Would you like to be a Saturday Girl?....
or maybe a Saturday Boy?
We are looking for some new design team members to join Sketch Saturday! :)
What is required:
You MUST have your own personal blog and be prepared to post each week.
You must be able to make a card each week, and upload it before 6pm (UK time) on the Friday before the challenge goes live.
You will get the sketches well in advance, so you will have plenty of time to create.
You can use any craft materials you like to make your DT work (except copyright protected images of course),
The only 'rule' is that you stick as close as possible to the sketch, but of course artisitc licence plays a part and is welcomed, you don't have to be 'spot on' but the sketch design needs to be recognised within your work.
You must post about our challenge on your own blog each week, leaving links to SS and to our sponsors on all posts.
You must be prepared to leave comments for challengers, currently 1 challenger in every 10, although you are of course allowed to leave comments for more should you have the time to do so.
You will be expected to take a turn hosting a DT week.
DT weeks are the first Saturday of each month, when it's your turn, we want you to make your own sketch for the challenge, arrange a sponsor, and arrange the guest designer (GD) too. You will be expected to type up the post for this week.
DT week is only for one week, but your GD will be with us for the whole month, so would be expected to make a card for each Saturday in the month that you are DT host. You are responsible for uploading your GD's cards each week before the deadline.
You must also type up the winners post the following week after your DT week, and arrange for your winner to receive their prize from your sponsor.
Sketch Saturday is a challenge blog like any other, and we are happy for our DT to be members of other challenge blog DTs too.
We expect ALL of our DT members to treat SS with the same respect as others.
If you are currently on other DTs then please apply to join us if you want to be a part of our team too, however, if it is going to be a problem for you to make a card for us if you have deadlines and/or rules from other DTs to keep to, then please do not apply if there is a possibilty that SS could be pushed to one side so that you can make your card for another challenge blog instead.
It's only fair to the other SS DT members.
Saying that, real life has a habit of getting in the way sometimes, and if you need time out from all crafting for a while, that's no problem, we will cover your commenting while you take a break.
If you would like to join Sketch Saturday, please email myself (Susie) at susielittle@ymail.com
with THREE of what you consider to be your favourite card/projects to date as well as telling us a little bit about you as a crafter.
Please don't send just photos, we need to see the individual BLOG POSTS
But no more than 3 please.
DO NOT just give us your blog address, we can look through your blogs anyway, we only want specific blog posts please.
Please ensure your email has SSDT in the subject line
to ensure our application doesn't get lost in spam.
Deadline for applications is 24th May 2013, if selected you will be notified by nd 1st June 2013, and we would like you to make your first DT card/project for challenge #263 - 15th June 2013.
We look forward to receiving your emails! :)
WELCOME
For those of us living in the United States, this weekend is a very special occasion. Memorial Day is a time to honor all those who died in service to our country. It is easy to get caught up in the fun things we do at this time and forget the meaning. I hope we will pause during the day to remember why we are celebrating the day. Memorial Day is special for me for another reason. It was on

Hello again all you special people. Once again thank you for praying for Nancy. She continues to improve and probably will get to go home in a few more days. There are so many people and circumstances that we need to pray about that we could spend full time praying. There are so many problems in our world today. If I didn't know that God was still in control and someday everything will all be
