An unexpected "Thank you!"

Shamiel, our friend in Lahore, Pakistan,
received his May Catholic, today.
What a kind "Thank You!"
We remember in our prayers
all the brave Catholics in Pakistan.

We offer our full solidarity and communion with our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI.

"This is precisely the moment in which to demonstrate esteem and appreciation for the Holy Father and the service he carries out; to show full solidarity with him and thus, to demonstrate communion, unity, and coherence with how this situation is dealt with".
Fr. Lombardi, S.J.
Press Officer of the Holy See.
referring to the Vatican Leaks.

Oremus. ~ Let us pray.

For God's Holy Church
Ecclesiae tuae, quaesumus, Domine,
preces placatus admitte:
ut, destructis adversitatibus et erroribus universis,
secura tibi serviat libertate.
Per Christum Dominum nostrum.
Amen.
+
Graciously hear, O Lord, the prayers
of Thy Church that,
having overcome all adversity and every error,
she may serve Thee in security and freedom.
Through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Oremus. ~ Let us pray.

Pro Papa. ~ For the Pope.
Deus omnium fidelium pastor et rector,
famulum tuum Benedictum quem pastorem
Ecclesiae tuae praeesse voluisti
propitius respice; da ei quaesumus verbo et exemplo,
quibus praeest, proficere;
ut ad vitam, una cum grege sibi credito,
perveniat sempiternim.
Per Christum Dominum nostrum.
Amen.
+
O God the shepherd and ruler of all the faithful,
look with favour upon Thy servant Benedict
whom Thou hast been pleased to appoint pastor over Thy Church:
grant him, we beseech Thee,
that by word and example he may be of profit
to those over whom he has been placed,
and together with the flock committed to his care,
attain unto life everlasting.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Across the fields and throughout the centuries they keep coming.

Father Anthony Mary with some of the pilgrim priests
before they leave
Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris.

Pilgrim priests
 and
throngs of pilgrims.
Pilgrims of all ages
and especially
the young here kneeling.
Mass and Holy Communion
before they leave.
Pilgrims kneeling
before setting off.
The Standard of the Cross
and Our Lady
leading the thousands ever onwards.
Yes, we know these as they set out.

Procession to Mass in the fields.
A long procession.
Franciscans of the Immaculate beside our Brothers.
Tom Esteban, Br. Seelos, Br Clemens...
Holy Mass.
and Communion
O Esca Viatorum ~ O Food of men wayfaring...
Through the fields
they pilgrimage onwards
an image of the Church pressing on through the ages
these fields saw pilgrims last century
and two hundred years ago pilgrims passed here...
...five hundred years ago it was the same Church, doing the same thing...
doing what their ancestors in the faith did 100 years before them
in 1400 A.D.... and 1300 A.D.
  ... in 1200 AD it was the same story of pilgrimage from Paris to Chartres;
the days of prayer and 75 miles on foot as penance for sins;
prayer and penance in action,
a proclamation of the Kingship of Christ.
The Cathedral is packed with pilgrims.
Many are still quite young.

See how the Cathedral of Our Lady of Chartres is overflowing with them...
...and after this our exile
show uto us the blessed fruit of Thy Womb,
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

#321 - Strange Bedfellows

Hello everyone!

I apologize for the confusion with Mr. Linky last week. I was away and without connection for two weeks so I experimented with writing the posts ahead and scheduling them to appear on Saturday. It looks like Blogger is quite happy to do that, but I'll have to figure out how to encourage Mr. Linky to let me do the same thing.

The prompt this week is: strange bedfellows.

 Have a great week!

Glorious Dawn follows a long night of Vigil.

The Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham

The Deaconing Ordination
Vigil of Pentecost
26 May, 2012.

Te Deum laudamus...We praise thee, O God :
we acknowledge thee to be the Lord.
All the earth doth worship thee :
    the Father everlasting.
To thee all Angels cry aloud :
the Heavens, and all the Powers therein.

DT Call.

This blog post is dated to stay until the deadline for our DT call.
For our latest challenge (#208 sponsored by The Craft Barn) please scroll down or click here. Thank you.

Would you like to be a Saturday Girl?....
or maybe a Saturday Boy?

We are looking for some new design team members to join Sketch Saturday! :)
Initially on a 3 month trial, with a view to a permanent position we hope.

What is required:

You MUST have your own personal blog and be prepared to post each week.

You must be able to make a card each week, and upload it before midnight (UK time) on the Friday before the challenge goes live.
You will get the sketches well in advance, so you will have plenty of time to create.
You can use any craft materials you like to make your DT work (except copyright protected images of course),
The only 'rule' is that you stick as close as possible to the sketch, but of course artisitc licence plays a part and is welcomed, you don't have to be 'spot on' but the sketch design needs to be recognised within your work.
You must post about our challenge on your own blog each week, leaving links to SS and to our sponsors on all posts.

You must be prepared to leave comments for challengers, currently 1 challenger in every 10, although you are of course allowed to leave comments for more should you have the time to do so.

You will be expected to take a turn hosting a DT week.
DT weeks are the first Saturday of each month, when it's your turn, we want you to make your own sketch for the challenge, arrange a sponsor, and arrange the guest designer (GD) too. You will be expected to type up the post for this week.
DT week is only for one week, but your GD will be with us for the whole month, so would be expected to make a card for each Saturday in the month that you are DT host. You are responsible for uploading your GD's cards each week before the deadline.
You must also type up the winners post the following week after your DT week, and arrange for your winner to receive their prize from your sponsor.

Sketch Saturday is a challenge blog like any other, and we are happy for our DT to be members of other challenge blog DTs too.
We expect ALL of our DT members to treat SS with the same respect as others.
If you are currently on other DTs then please apply to join us if you want to be a part of our team too, however, if it is going to be a problem for you to make a card for us if you have deadlines and/or rules from other DTs to keep to, then please do not apply if there is a possibilty that SS could be pushed to one side so that you can make your card for another challenge blog instead.
It's only fair to the other SS DT members.
Saying that, real life has a habit of getting in the way sometimes, and if you need time out from all crafting for a while, that's no problem, we will cover your commenting while you take a break.

If you would like to join Sketch Saturday, please email myself (Susie) at susielittle@ymail.com
with THREE of what you consider to be your favourite card/projects to date as well as telling us a little bit about you as a crafter.
Please don't send just photos, we need to see the individual BLOG POSTS
But no more than 3 please.
DO NOT just give us your blog address, we can look through your blogs anyway, we only want specific blog posts please.
Please ensure your email has SSDT in the subject line
to ensure our application doesn't get lost in spam.

Deadline for applications is 26th May 2012, if selected you will be notified by 2nd June 2012, and we would like you to make your first DT card/project for challenge #212 - 16th June 2012.
We look forward to receiving your emails! :)

Jesus and Mary go with ye!

Afore ye go.
Fr. Anthony Mary and the Brothers
before they depart for the 80 mile pilgrimage
between Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris
and Notre Dame Cathedral in Chartres, France.
The pilgrimage begins tomorrow
and closes on Monday 28, May.

With banners flying.
Br. Seelos bearing the banner of
the Most Holy Redeemer on Golgotha.
The sturdy wooden banner hafts were made
by our friend Surik. Thank you!

  "Make Her known!"
Blessed Pius IX gave Redemptorists the command
to "Make Her known".
Mr. Esteben with the banner of
the Mother of Perpetual Succour.

"Few but good!"
The little band takes to the sea to join
the throng of 15,000 pilgrims.

In this storm battered boat
they are an image of a missionary monastery:
a religious family afloat on the sea of the world
holding aloft the banners of Jesus Crucified
and Most Holy Mary;
They are making for the Port of Salvation themselves,
and they want to take others with them, as they go.
Afore ye go, and when ye go, and as ye go:
Jesus and Mary go with ye!

Memorial Day Sharing

Memorial Day is here again. This is another American holiday. We do have several people from other countries who share with us on Spiritual Sundays. Sometimes I tend to forget this when talking about one of our holidays. This weekend is Memorial Day weekend. Even if your country doesn't celebrate this holiday, you probably have a day to remember those who have given their lives in service to
